OAK PARK PEDIATRICS – CORONAVIRUS PLAN
UPDATED 8/25/2020

Oak Park Pediatrics has continued to monitor the coronavirus pandemic.  Our primary goal is to continue to provide essential pediatric care while keeping our patients, families and staff safe.  The following changes will continue through the fall.

  1. WALK-IN HOUR IS SUSPENDED – MUST CALL AHEAD FOR ALL APPOINTMENTS
  • Same day sick appointments will be available.
  • Physicians are doing telemedicine appointments for acute concerns with COVID-19 consistent symptoms or possible contact.
  1. Well care: Patients are encouraged to stay up to date on their yearly check-ups and all well infant visits. It is imperative that children remain up to date on vaccinations. This care is essential in pediatrics and we do not want to delay these important visits.
  • We will return to late nights on Mondays and Thursdays starting in OCTOBER.
    • OFFICE HOURS:
      • MONDAY 8:15AM- 8PM
      • TUESDAY 8:15AM- 5:30PM

  • Scheduled as in office visits for Non-COVID related concerns
    • ALL patients and families will be screened for symptoms and exposure prior to scheduling an in office visit
  1. COVID Testing:
    1. Our office has COVID antigen testing that we are doing daily
      1. Testing is done by a swab into the front part of the child’s nose
    2. COVID testing is scheduled by calling our office and completing our COVID questionnaire through our front desk or nurses
      1. Per our office protocol, based on responses, a telemedicine visit will be scheduled in the appropriate timeframe with a physician who will then order the testing when indicated.
    3. Testing is done by appointment only and is completed in the car by a nurse in appropriate PPE.
    4. Testing results are available within 30 minutes
    5. You will be provided an information sheet after the visit to answer further questions about possible testing results

FOR ALL APPOINTMENTS – please limit family members at well and sick visits to the child(ren) and one caregiver.  No siblings or extra adults should accompany your child to our office.

ACUTE CONCERNS

Please call our office first!  We have developed protocols, patient screening and new procedures to continue to address all of our patient needs in a safe and efficient way.

OFFICE PROCEDURES

We want to ensure our patients that we are frequently cleaning and appropriately sanitizing the office and equipment throughout the day.  All of our staff has masks and other appropriate protective equipment to be used in all encounters.  We have removed toys, books and other non-essential items from our office.

STAYING UP TO DATE

Our team is closely following the recommendations of local health officials.  We are actively monitoring the spread and risk of COVID-19.  Since this information is rapidly changing we are encouraging our patients to use the following sources:

  • Our web site (oakparkpeds.com) and Facebook page – our most recent update will be linked on our home page and on our Facebook page.
  • luriechildrens.org has a page dedicated to COVID-19 that is updated frequently and provides links to the local health department and CDC recommendations.

Thank you for your understanding during this time and for the opportunity to care for your children and our community.  Know that we take our commitment to you seriously and are doing our best to continue providing you with the best care.
